you can purchase it premade it you want..
or I make mine if I forget to have some on hand.
i cut about 3" wide of a fabric strip that i need to length.
i use cotton rope for the piping itself. I have gotten some from the meat dept at my local grocery store.. just tell them you are making a few roasts.. they give you alot ! I have purchased it from joann's also.
you lay the cotton rope in the middle of your fabric and fold it in half. then you sew along the rope side to hold it in place.. then i cut the raw edges back to either 1/2" or 1/4" depending.. on my bow tucks I cut it back 1/4".
