Hi, I don't know anything about the Pfaff, but I have a Janome that I bought in 1983 and it's still going strong. I would suggest you buy from a dealer if you can. Usually you get a few lessons, and if something doesn't work you can bring it in.

I have a Pfaff and I love it. My sister had a Janome and loved it too. If it were for me I would go with the one that has a dealer and someone who could service it if needed. We have neither nearby and I have to drive 50 miles to take my Pfaff to be serviced. I too love the walking foot.

I would check an online company called Sew Vac Direct for pricing on a new Janome 6600. They are wonderful to deal with and their pricing is great.

I have used both machines. I have to say I did prefer the Janome over the Pfaff....they both sew well but it is personal preference there.

Hands down ... Pfaff.
I'm a Pfaff girl, love my Pfaff, wouldn't trade my Pfaff for anything.
That said, test driving is always the smart way to go.
good luck

Hi - If you need to make a quick decision - I would go for the Janome - although as others have said - you could get a new one for not much more money - they sell in the UK for £999. - Conversion approx $1530 - BUT might be cheaper in the US anyway, as it seems most things "quilty" are dearer here. My ultimate thought would be to have a test drive with both of them as we all have different views. I bought the Pfaff QE 4 - because I wanted the bigger throat and found I just couldn't get on with it all - sold it and bought the Janome 6600 and I LOVE it !! Just my thoughts - ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with the Pfaff - just not for me.

Yes, please find a dealer for the Janome. Most of them are very personable and helpful. Most will help you learn your machine and offer very good deals. Then let us know what your choice is. Charlie

Hello
My old Janome was fantastic so I bought a new one this year. Nothing but problems so far - it's a Horizon and I'd hoped for more. Test drive and listen carefully!
