Default good place to learn about applique

Here is a super good site to learn how to applique with the back basting method. The first time I tried it, I didn't really like it very much. A friend kept encouraging me, and soon I changed my mind. Most, but not all, of my applique is done this way.

Also Connie Sue Haidle has a pretty BOM. The current one is almost done. There were three versions each month: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Look and see when she starts a new one.

Happy applique,

I just finished my first appliqué project for my moms birthday and really enjoyed it once I got used to the method. It wasn't perfect, but looked great and was made with love.

Crafty Bear, you must be reading my mind. In 2012, I want to make a special quilt for my BIL. He and my sister lived on a paddlewheel boat for several years. They now have moved to Kansas and plan to sell the boat. I have made some photos of the boat and want to turn it into an applique that I can put in the center of the quilt ... is that clear as mud? Anyway I would be interested to know how to do that. Maybe someone on the board has done that.

The dogs I have finished now and gotten all the eyes and noses and embellishments on and have it quilted. I have also gotten the Woodland Creatures quilted and bound since this pic was taken.
The dog quilt is adorable, but the Woodland Creatures is amazing. I have the pattern, but have not made it yet. Great job.
