Thank you all, it has been a challenge trying to teach Sara about sewing but she loves to play with material and thread and even wants a sewing machine for Christmas.

When you are ready to get her her own machine - do yourself a favor and skip the toy chainstitch thing. My dd got one for christmas when she was 5. I fought with it for 2 hours and dumped it. She pieced her first Twin sized quilt at 6. This year she is getting a very simple Singer for Christmas.

Hi Shnnn ... I live in northern nevada. Are you up here? There are a few of us on the board who live within 40 minutes of each other.

I keep looking at those little janome machines at hancock fabrics to take to quilting classes. They are so light weight. They are on sale again right now. Janome is a great little machine. I had the larger memorycraft janome for a while and it was nice. I sold it because I got a bernina (well... two) But, so of the features are nice on them. The nice thing is the feet are very reasonable too. I bought every foot they made for a fraction of the cost of the bernina feet.

Hi luves. I have been offline for several weeks. computer problems.
Red Garnet - I got the holiday swap, Thanks!
I like the idea of a light background for the Valentine swap and am working on them. You are so kind
and thoughtful to do the swap! JP

Ok thanks for the heads up on that one, I don't want to waste my time on something that doesn't work very well. She will probably get started on my Janome when it's time. I just love how easy it is to do things on and it will be easy to teach her on as well.
