Making and giving a quilt is kind of like making wood for burning in a woodstove~it warms you many times over. The
maker is warmed while she/he is busy making and holding on lap, etc.; heart is warmed when given to recipient and receiver is warmed physically and emotionally many times over when it is received as well as when it is used and remembered for years to come. Hospitals are a perfect place to begin warming........Hope your sister is well and warmed by your love as well:-)

What a beautiful quilt, know your sister will cherish it. I made one for my beloved sister before she got really sick. It was very bright, as her eyesight was failing due to Mac. Deg. The quilt went with her to the nursing home, she said she always knew where her room was because she could see the colors on her quilt. One day one of the male patients was seen walking down the hall with HER quilt. He was stopped because the alarm was on for the missing quilt. He said he thought it was his....LOL... Her name was inscribed in several places. I have the quilt now, but don't have my Sister. I will miss her every day of my life. Love, Love love your family....I hope she is better now.

I love the pattern and it's very nice. I bet she is thrilled to have something so special with her.

I just used some of the scraps in my stash. mostly quarter yards and less. I fussy cut some of the patterns, like the fish and the Paris fabric. The rest, I just tried to keep each pair of light and dark colors coordinated a little. I have a box of quilt blocks my mother made. One of these days, I'm going to set them together and hand quilt it.

Mom taught me how to quilt when I was 14 years old. We hung her old fashioned frame from hooks in the ceiling of the basement. It was pulled up to the ceiling when not in use, and dropped down on ropes when in use. We used to sit on opposite sides and quilt and talk. The basement was cool in the winter and we had a fireplace to keep it warm in the winter. The whole family helped tie quilts for the camper and cabin.
