We sometimes get hung up on the creative side of quilting and forget the practical side of it. If it fits it's function and is loved, then it's fulfilled it's purpose. There is nothing better than a quilt that keeps someone warm and comfortable especially if it's ugly. Sometimes ugly means that people are not afraid to cuddle up with the dog, take it on a picnic, stow it in the trunk in case of emergency and it doesn't get any better than that!

I suspect a quilt is like homemade bread. The worst batch of homemade bread you ever make is better than what you can buy. I'm sure your ugly quilt will turn out charming if not beautiful. be sure to post a picture. maybe we could all post pictures of our ugliest quilts. I would sure love to get rid of some fabric!

I love ugly quilts because most of them aren't despite what the makers say. Its interesting to see what people define as ugly

I haven't seen many ugly quilts in my life. I bet it turns out pretty. I am using up my scraps before cutting up more fabrics, turning out okay, not really my choices together but, it works.

I might not like a project when I first start out on it, but I kind of "fall in love" with it by the time it is finished. I predict this project will turn into a labor of love for your husband!
