It is your quilt. You can do whatever you want.

I worked on a raffle quilt last year (with others, of course). It was won by a lady who didn't need it, colors weren't right. It was a heavy one because we used cotton batting, so wasn't really what you could use to cuddle up in a nice chair with. This lady told me she gave it to her daughter in Chicago. (We're located near Detroit.) I thought that was nice, but she went on to say that her daughter is a social worker and trying to raise more money for a foundation where she works. Donations are getting skimpy with the economy, so the daughter will be donating our raffle quilt for her foundation to raffle. Well, my thoughts went from "that was nice" to "how wonderful that our quilt is going to another good cause." Yes, I think I'd be rather disappointed if someone else made money off a quilt that we donated our time and efforts on, but will agree that once it's gone, it's like a quilt that's sold. The new owner has no obligation to do what I'd want!

If you're feeling conflicted about selling the quilt, you could consider donating some or all of the proceeds from its sale back to the organization from which you won it.

All things considered I think its okay for you to sell.
Here's another option...donate it back to the guild that raffled it off, for them to raffle at another event. This gives you the opportunity to thank them and praise the beautiful workmanship and explain why it will not work out in your home. Hopefully this leaves the members feeling good about their efforts, the quilt gets another shot at going to a home where it will be appreciated and loved and you don't have to worry about hurt feelings!

How about offering it back to the guild to raffle it off again.

I agree with others...it's yours...do what you want with it. Good luck with the sale. It really is a beautiful quilt and you will be able to find a person who loves it.

I agree , I think if you can't use it, it is yours, sell it, good luck with what you decide, and don't tell anyone, i don't want you to get your feelings hurt and any body parts for that matter.
God Bless

some things are better left untold - the guild does not need to be told - it will make it better for all involved. I say sell it if that's what you want to do - it's yours.

I would give it away as a gift or donate to an organization of your choice so they could raffle it off again.
