Thanks for sharing the bobbin with label tip. I saw another on their website that I thought was another good idea: use a write on wipe off board and erasable marker to try machine quilting design. Draw and doodle the design in one continuous motion until it "feels" right. A scrap of batting make the perfect thing to wipe it off the board before you draw again. FYI, I have found a good quality erasable, write on wipe off board at the Dollar Store. I am sure there are variations around the US. They are in the aisle with the school teaching supplies.

This is what I have been doing, but once you get the band around the bobbin you really can't see what color of thread it is.

I picked up a roll of blue painters tape at Dollar Tree. My son (the painter) says that it isn't sticky enough for a good paint line and was going to throw it out. I took it and used my old rotary cutter and cut some lines in it. I tear off a little piece for each bobbin and it works just great. Doesn't leave a sticky residue that could catch the thread in the bobbin case.

You have to use another one when you're done with that bobbin? I just put the thread through the hole in the middle (or one of the holes around the rim if you are patient; I used to do that but I am not that patient anymore) and make sort of a knot; so you have a little tail hanging out to pick it up from the container. Just have to remember to untie the knot before putting it in the machine to sew
