I've done some phases, but prefer to do what appeals to me the most. I like scrappy quilts the best and even my Dear Jane is very scrappy. I'm finally working on it after many years of sitting in boxes.

Thanks Martha for posting this. I want to learn to machine quilt and so I joined too. I love feathers and what a great tutorial. I probably will do several of these before I get it right. LOL. Now to find my feet for the machine......I jsut moved back to CA and we can't find them. (Sigh)

I'm so glad that you and your friends are working on Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. I'm completed mine in brights with black sashing and love it. I coordinate a group for Jennifer Chiaverini where we do a block a week. Each month we have a drawing from all the completed blocks. If you want more info, PM me. Join the fun!

I have been seeing alot about the book and patterns "Sylvia's Wedding Sampler" There are numerous web sites about it and lots of pictures of the quilts being made, several groups have been formed, sharing tips and some exchanging blocks. It is a world wide thing, with groups in France and Germany and many other countries. There are 140 patterns in the book. A few of my friends and myself have bought the book (Amazon) and are making it. The patterns are beautiful, Im making mine in pastels. Pinks, lav, soft greens, yellow, aqua and blue.

I'm lucky enough to have been given two huge bags of scraps of china silks in all glorious colors. I'm making an artsy quilt with it, but first have to back it up with fusible webbing. It's very fine to the touch.

There is a quilty technique going around here called "Circle of 9's". It is 9 blocks placed in a circle at 12 Oclock, 6, 3 and 9, with one in the center, then you make your background to fill in with one or two colors of your choice. I have one I made for my fur baby, but the full sized one I made I don't have a picture of. Forgot to get it before I put it in the mail for a new bride and groom. I'll try to get it posted for you all soon. Its a fun and quick one to do - good weekend project
