Default Needle-turn Applique and assorted Applique Notes

I recently took a class on needle-turn applique. There were no handouts so I transcribed my notes and added sketches. I learned a lot so I thought I'd share my notes with my quilting buddies.

    Topics covered include
    Preparing the freezer paper pattern
    Preparing the fabric pattern
    Basic instructions
Shapes (Square, Leaf, Heart, Stem, Circle, Flower)
    Supplies
    Perfect Circles
    Freezer Paper with starch
A little bit of English Paper Piecing.

The attached is a pdf file

This is a great tutorial. I have saved it in my files and will print it out for my notebook. I love the way you also included the pictures showing exactly how to do each technique.

I have found that if I leave the freezer paper on the top side of the fabric and I dont have to reverse the pattern or iron the seam allowance under. I just needle turn under using the edge of the freezer paper as my guide. It saves alot of time.

Thank you for the very detailed notes. I see they suggest DMC 50 wt., do yourself a favor and give YLI 100 wt silk a try. I recently switched over and its just a dream to use.
