I love 505. I, too, use a mask because I have asthma. It cleans up with soap & warm water. When it's nice outside I spray there. If not I use a big sheet for overspray. The last king size quilt i made was much easier to handle with the spray. I still used some strategically placed pins. Good luck.

My word of caution is to not over spray. That is easy to do. Just sprits it about. You want a light coating, not saturation of the fabric. Like I said that can be easier said than done at least for me.
If too much is sprayed you do get gummy needles, and the saturation can distort your fabric and glue it in place when it distorts. I may be the only dummy with this issue, but I don't want anyone else having the fits I have had.
Good Luck.
Oh, and if you over spray and get it on your wood floors, expect the dog and cat fur to collect in the shape of the quilt you just spray basted like a picture frame. Ask me how I know??!

Check out patsythompsondesigns.com She has a great video about free motion quilting that includes using basting sprays.

I buy spray at walmart for $4.50 a can & there is no odor, & it DOES NOT GUM MY NEEDLE. There are other sprays you can get a hancock, joann, & hobby lobby that are not expensive .

Does anyone with asthma or breathing problems have a problem with the fumes from the spray? I would like to try the spray, but don't want to create a problem with my asthma.

Scroll down through the posts, #39 is one from someone else who has asthma. She uses 505 spray.
I use 505 and don't notice any fumes at all.

Do not try KK100 or KK2000 as both have high fumes. I have to spray them outside when I use them, and I don't even have asthma.

Patsy Thompson on You Tube has an excellent spray basting video. I put spray basting in You Tube's search and there were several videos. Patsy's was very good.

It'll save you some money if you follow the directions on the can, instead of her directions. Scroll down to post #21 to find out what she's doing wrong in her video. Mind you, her method does work. But why waste all that spray when doing it the correct way works just as well and will save money.

I tried this spray for the first time last year and I love it. So much easier for me than all that pinning and such.
