I like the softness of the "insipid" one and I think quilting will enhance it to the point of spectacular. Stay with your plan

I too love the "washed out one". It an heirloom quality to it. If it was a different block maybe the darker one, but the DWR lends itself to the more tone on tone look. I think it is beautiful and with the right quilting it will be even more stunning. Just my opinion. Good luck and let us know what you decide please.

I go with the original same color also. I feel that the darker colors are too stark and jarring. The original is soft and inviting and speaks of tender love.

I really like the addition of the lighter "splatter dotted" pink. It adds just the right amount of contrast. I would also be frightened about the darker red bleeding into the white with washing. You can't count on the recipient to use colour catchers everytime she washes it.

The top picture looks great, quilting will add a lot to the quilt. If she picked out the colors, you really need to use the fabrics she chose, they may match curtains or something in her bedroom.

I like the first one, too. I think the quilting will really make you feel better about it.

I like the first one, too. It looks very romantic and antique-y.

Because of this I auditioned 2 different tone pinks to see if it helped. I thought it did to a point, but one was too dark, the other was the tone of pink that seemed to clash with the junction triangles.
With quilting I think it will look better than it does now, and my DH feels it's fine as it is.
Would you be kind enough to express your opinions please as which way I should go.
I like them all. Even the pale one! It's soft simplicity gives it an air of distinction. On the other hand, I like both of the others, as well. Especially the darker one. I'm a lot of help, eh? I think I would choose depending on the taste of the recipient, as we all have different taste. Good luck! It will be great with whatever you choose. Meg
