I am on the ambivalent fence with batiks. I have some batik fat quarters and think they are pretty, but I have no real desire to do an entire quilt out of them. There are some batiks I think are lovely, and I do use them but more for accent pieces on purses. I did do a whole laptop case from a batik kit, which was a bear of a project, which probably did not enhance my love of the fabric. Basically I would not go out of my way to use batiks but do not totally reject them either. I did think I was the only one in the quilt world who was not completely gaga over them though, nice to know that is not the case.

I have to say that I semi-agree with you. Some I like to use in strip piecing and some are just not appealing.

Well I love them - but laugh your head off, I can never seem to get them to go with anything else, so they just mount up on my shelf!! I have used batiKs for presents when I am just using one colour, but I have never managed to get them into anything. It might cheer you up.

I don't hate them but I partly agree with you. They are not quite my thing either. Maybe I just need to use them a little more.

I remember when batiks first came out, years ago, and I didn't like them at all. My sister, also a quilter, absolutely loved them, and I thought that she was crazy. Now I have seen the light, so to speak, and I love them too. I love how they blend into one another and how they seem to glow in a quilt. I don't have a lot of them because they are so expensive, but I am slowly building my stash up. I guess I just took some time to warm up to them, like many of you did too.
