Here are a couple of pix to show you what I'm talking about. I also forgot to mention that I always use thick, pre-washed flannel as batting. It, too makes the topper lay flatter. I turn it through the seam opening on the back.
Now let's see if I can attach the pix.

THANK YOU QUILNNAN. I know I am not the one with the problem, but I have a few bindings on curves to get done and this is so helpful. Love it!.

Another tip is make sure that your binding seam(where you sew together)does not come to the point or groove of what ever you are making as it will also cause a bulge because of the bulk, as this is exactly what happened to me on a table topper.

I have made table toppers with lots of hard edges on them. My way to finish them is instead of putting binding on them sew your backing on and turn right side out. I think you get a much nicer finish on them. You can if you want then top stitch around the edge .Makes a nice finish that lays flat on the table.

It is beautiful. It's a shame you had this problem. As much of a pain as it will be, I'm afraid you will have to "rip it" and cut a new bias binding. You will be glad you took the time to do it. It will be something your friend will cherish.
