Default Now I know why people put patchwork stripes on the back of their quilts.

I just got a package of extra wide backing material in the mail. It was stuffed into one of those cardboard envelopes without a zip strip for opening. I got out my knife and slashed open the the edge. Now the material has a hole in it and the finished quilt will have extra decoration. Has anyone else done this?

Oh no! But at least you have a plan that will work. I have not done this, but, because of you, I probably won't now.

I never open packages that way don't know if something happened in the past but just don't and I guess that is a lesson learned the hard way. -- J

Glad you have a nice attitude about it and not letting it ruin your day
Just a thought, have you thought of complaining to the company on how the item was packaged? They may compensate you someway and at the very least change their packaging ways.
