Just this morning found some at Wal-Mart in the garden section. They were cloth with latex coated and the color was navy. I would of brought them right then but was short on money. They do not have the latex dots.

Garden gloves work but I do not think they work quite as well as the quilters gloves. You can purchase them on line.

I have used gardening gloves too and they work just fine.

A few years ago I took a machine quilting class from well -known quilter Sharon Schamber. She showed us how to use our fingers dipped in Glycerine (from any drugstore) then rub hands together. It does not spot the fabric and probably good for your hands. Works for me for several years.

Michael's sells a type of fingercots which are longer, heavier, and have dots on them. My hands don't sweat in them.

I agree with gouldmine, I love the Glycerine. It's less than $5, only takes a drop or two on the finger tips, no residue on the fabric, is good for your skin, and a 4 or 5 dollar bottle will last two lifetimes. I hate the gloves, they're hot, get in the way, get misplaced. Can't change a bobbin or thread the machine with them on. They're just generally a pain to work with.

I have quilted lots and lots of quilts with gardening gloves with the rubber dots. They work very well.

If I couldn't get my purple gloves (I've forgotten the name - CRS!), I would buy 'mud gloves' from the garden center. They have rubber on palms and fingers, but not the back of your hands so they are not so hot. Good luck!
