I think you did a fabulous job, it's beautiful. The edge looks fine to me. I do like someone else mentioned and measure the width and length from the middle of the quilt and make my binding that size and when I sew the first side down by maching I kind of pull the binding firm as I'm sewing and that will take keep from stretching the quilt. After a little practice you'll get it.

That is a darling quilt. If your DH is like mine, he has a pretty good idea how much stash is actually there, hiding it does not improve your marriage. I also came to quilting late (age 57, hooked on it almost instantly when my new neighbor dragged me to a guild meeting) When I have irregularities in my binding, it seems most likely that I have not made the seams in the binding smoothly.
