[QUOTE=nancia;5170463]water, walk, weight. more of two makes less of one.

Thanks, Nancia. I like that. I will put on my fridge to remind me to add a second walk back in now that I don't have to put on so many layers of clothes. It is cold out today, though.

I typed a long post (surprise) last night and it isn't here. I was whining so maybe that's why it disappeared. Spending the day with my ex is very stressful so I whined to y'all. Why do I do it? Because he had an out of town Dr app't and no one wants him on the road, so I'm the chaffeur to protect other people. He's not a bad person, just one who used poor judgement. Too many casinos in the area.

Then I spent over an hour with my chiropractor. He very concerned about the toll the lupus is taking on my muscles. I just take it one day at a time. Monday was bad, but better since. What is, is. Poor guy can't stand it when he can't fix something.

The dress bodice hasn't arrived in Alb yet. I'm beginning to think it did arrive and the person who is making my darling GD's life difficult has it. So I need to start cutting today the size I think she is or there will be no dress in the mail early next week. Of course, I didn't do delivery confirmation so I can't track it. I've never had a problem with Priority in the past. I think the dress will go UPS when it's done.

Okay, enough whining. Speaking of wine, I found a sulfite free wine. I deferred buying it during Lent. I may pick it soon as a reward for when I get these stubborn pounds off. My weight was down a bit today. Can I drink it alone? That's an issue with me.

Nancia, the name change would have to come from Pam, not me. She has been so faithful about doing this. I really don't care - just rambling.

Momma K, were your fruits and nuts in a bag? Last night was a raw meal for the dogs so I had their scales out. 1/2 cup of almonds weighed just over 2 ounces. A serving is 20 almonds. Does your bag have more than one serving? Pam H reminded us to watch our portions. I am so guilty here as all my life I had to eat huge amounts to keep from losing weight so I feel a a 'real' portion is way too small. You are doing so well. If you can get past the first three days, it gets easier and you're there.

For Today: We honor ourselves and our friends when we can tell them how we feel. T I Rubin
We share our life journeys because where we are at impacts our health and our weight control. The more we post, the more we will get out of being here. Now I need to go over to myfitnesspal and post there. I hope they have a lising for cabbage soup. The batch I made last night is yummy.

Everose, be sure to take your own advice and be good to yourself. It's a special thing you are doing caring for a family member.

I am getting healthier and losing weight.

Good Morning everyone!!!
Went to the foot dr on Tuesday. He checked the incision, which is 3 inches long!! I didn't think it would be that big. Looks really ugly right now too. He will take the stitches out next week. Since then it has been hurting me a lot more. Didn't get much sleep the last two nights even with 2 Vicodin and a half an Ambien. I called him this morning and am going back in at 1:45. Seems it hurts more now than last week!
I am so tired!!
Went to my Endo Dr. this morning. we decided not to have me try and get on the scale, little hard to do with one foot. I did step on mine here at home and I am maintaining, not gaining so that is good.
I have some sewing I need to do but can't sit at my machine with the foot down right now. There is some hand sewing I still need to get done. I have to get sleeves on 2 quilts for the guild show and a label on a wedding gift. I have not worked on them since surgery.
DD#2 came up yesterday with my grand son. The other girls and their DH"s were here for dinner. got to hold both of my grandchildren. We made a huge stirfry. They washed the veggies and I just sat at the table cutting it all up. We had Bok Choy, broccoli, carrots, leeks, green onions, onions, red and yellow bell peppers, kale, snow peas, some garbanzo, pinto and black beans, stir fried with very little oil with fresh garlic, ginger, fresh cilantro, sesame oil and Terriaki (sp) sauce. Served up with some stir fried chicken on top of whole wheat linguine pasta. It was very good and lots of leftovers. I think they will be over soon for lunch and we'll have a repeat. Jen needs to get on the road by One to pick her DH up at the airport and go home.
This weekend we are going to a "Weekend to Remember" marriage conference. We are going for free registration as a pastor. We will be eating out all our meals. Saturday dinner I may just really enjoy my dinner and not be as "good" We'll see. This is the 7th or 8th of the conferences we have gone to. I really enjoy it They are wonderful. think of it as a good oil change and safety check for your marriage.
On the way home from the Endo Dr. we stopped and rented a "lift" or Leg for the wheel chair that allows my leg to be elevated. I hope this helps. I know that it will be desperately needed for the conference this weekend.
I have had spinach in my eggs 3 times this week so far!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!

Gayle, I'm glad you got the leg lift. It will make you much more mobile, but you will need more elevation. I tied one or two pillows on mine. I couldn't believe when I bought my wheelchair that the leg lifts were extra. I assumed they were just part of the chair, though removable. Are you keeping the foot up all the time? Dangling was instant swelling and pain. I would lay down on the floor with the leg elevated on the couch every few hours. My dog loved it. Satuday can be your feast day.

I started sewing the underskirt. I've forgotten how do a 5/8" seam and I'm not look forward to working with the gathered tulle. Too bad my shoes aren't Nike - then I could say, "Just do it". Okay, back at it.

My portions are okay I think. My problem is that I am drinking too many calories. Tomorrow it is going to be the time for me to quit drinking calories. I just love soda though! Ugh. I also need to increased my activity that much more.

I just cannot wait for Cathie to get here next week because she is such a good cheerleader for me at the gym. I know with her here I will faithfully go twice a day.

We are our worst enemy. And if the scale doesn't go down like we want, I know I eat because I feel bad. Then it's worse.
I will try eating the majority of my carbs in the morning and see how that works. I am definitely going to start drinking more water. I must cut out the liquid calories. *talking to myself out loud*

Irish, I'm trying to be good to me. Depression got me down Tues. Should have taken another "happy Pill" but I didn't. Should have gotten outside but talked myself out of it. Today was cold so what did I do - I got out.

Wonder how many of us have depression issues?

Not hearing a lot of "please" and "thank you" around here. Know Mom is in a different place most of the time, but she really knows how to push buttons. I keep reminding myself "I'm not 2 anymore". Can't change her, but I WILL NOT act this way with my DD.

Purchased spinach and have made salads the last 2 noons. I forgot that I like it as much as lettuce. Have another pot of beans on the stove. Eat some for almost every meal with salsa and/or alfredo sauce.

Missy, I gave up Diet Coke/Pepsi February 1 and it really helped with the weight loss. I started drinking a lot more water. As of this week, I had only had a couple glasses. Do I miss it? Yes, but know it is a trigger for me. When I figured out my trigger foods, it was a lot better.

Take care everyone - be good to you. Yes you deserve it, no matter what.

Missy, I'm surprised that soda is allowed after your surgery. The carbonation takes up so much space in your stomach. For those who who can have carbonated beverages, try sparkling water and a little fruit juice. Plain sparkling water, no artificial sugar in it. I like Faygo and cherry juice concentrate. There is no redemning food value in soda and a lot of hurt - did I hasten my osteoporosis with my Coke a day? Artificial sweeteners are even worse. At least mine was full sugar Coke. I had to give it up almost 20 years ago and I still crave one occasionally - that's where the sparkling water and cherry concentrate help. Orange juice also works. Sodas are high in sodium, too. BTW, Miss Missy, not tomorrow - right now!

Everose, tell us about your avatar. The stars look familiar. Not pushing dog ownership on anyone, but 1) they give lots of 'warm fuzzies' -rescues appreciate everything you do for them and 2) they make you get out no matter what the weather. Cats are good for other people, too.

Back the the ruffles. For some reason the machine keeps breaking the gathering thread. This may be the first time that machine has acted up. No, second, but that's not bad for 37 years. One more try and I will move to another one.

I had plenty of dinner and a a good dessert, so I AM done for the night. If I feel hungry, I'll have some sparkling water with a little blood orange juice.

i imagine close to 99% of us suffer from depression of one type or another. chicken or egg? are we depressed because we are overweight? or are we overweight because we're depressed? weight problems are so difficult to resolve because they are so entwined with psychological and health issues. one thing for sure-- we all use food as a coping mechanism. we need to find acceptable substitutes. meditation, yoga, walking and exercise are so much more healthy. fell hungry? ask yourself why? is it a physical, true hunger? or is it a need that isn't being met? are you bored? lonely? tired? frustrated? none of those issues will be resolved by eating, no matter how much food you shovel in. so get a big glass of water and call a friend, or write a letter, go for a walk, give your pet a love session. find something that helps resolve the real issue. chances are good that most of us have never truly experienced hunger, actual need for food, more than a few times in our lives. we think we do several times a day, but probably we are not. my personal demons are loneliness and pain. no amount of potato chips has ever had any effect on either problem. i can't eat my problems away. eating feeds my problems and makes them bigger and harder to resolve. 60 yrs of bad habits is hard to kick!

I am making great strides on my mystery quilt and I really like the way it is turning out. If my mom likes it and it looks good in her bedroom I will give it to her for her birthday. We are going to Iowa next weekend for a family wedding so I have 8 days to get the top pieced. Should be doable.
Everose, I think everyone has times in their lives with depression. Some more than others. Are you able to get in some exercise? That helps some people.
Yesterday I was down 2.6 lbs for the week. Then I made lasagna for my feast day. DH and DD raved about it. I thought it was so so. I like mine super saucy and this wasn't.
I need a bedtime snack and I think I hear a golden delicious apple calling my name.

I went back to my Podiatrist. He thinks that maybe he had my bandage too tight. He undid it all and checked my foot to make sure there was no infection. He then re-wrapped it but did not but the plaster splint back on. He gave me something else but it shifts around too much. He said that I could try my "boot" I think I will. It is still hurting a bit but not as bad as last night. I'm off to bed. Next is to back crawl up the stairs!!! Hope I get some sleep tonight!!!!!
