I put newspaper in mine everytime I put it away. The person that had mine before I got it didn't take very good care of it. At first I put it out in the sun for a day. That helped some but the newspaper does better. I bet the coffee would work too. Enjoy you sweet smelling machine. LOL Rowena101

Fabulous Fred, the sewing machine man from Houston, uses a sponge dampened in cleaner, the kind would be up to you. He then cleans the inside of the case to get out as many mold spores as possible. Then he puts half a cake of Safeguard soap in there. He uses this on machines he is going to sell and leaves half a cake in there when it is sold. He says he has good results. He told me this at Pacucah yesterday. I intend to try it as soon as I can get to town and get some.

I've tried everything to get the smell out of the Featherweight case. Nothing worked....I even aired in outside on a sunny day with a bar of soap in it. It still stinks!

That's my next try, Judy!! I'm a little leary of putting soap in as I would really hate the yucky smell mixed with soap smell!! Most of the things in my house are unscented, except my coffee of course!!

We put ours in the attic. The heat seems to kill the mole and the smell goes away.

@GrannySue, now that is an idea I can get behind!! If nothing else works, I'll try that. Gets pretty warm in AZ in the summer!!
