    Default Local Walmart

I had heard where someone had talked about all the new fabric at their walmart, but it wasn't until today at my local one, and found they had lots of formerly close to ten dollar per yard for 2 and 3 dollars. My husband got some of one brown vinyl leather looking type for 3 dollars per yard. I was blown away to find batiks in fat quarters, and bundles. I bought a fat quarter of each color they had, plus other fabrics on sale. This is really great for some of us that live out in the country, and I do mean out. lol.....

So glad to hear a satisfied customer for a change. I found some really neat stuff at Paducah WalMart. We will have to use it or loose it as far as WalMart is concerned. I try.

Our Walmart has restocked the fabric dept with some very nice cotton fabric. I'm more happy they have ever Pellon product and good muslin.

Ours had a little dinky fabric department brought back by demand. No two fabrics would go together for a quilt. Horrible selection of cottons. Anyway, went in there the other day, and lo and behold, they had some new, nice quilting cottons!!!!!

Where else can you get thread after midnight? Or basting spray on Sunday? Yes, I've done both.

My local WalMart never lost their fabric, and I use it for the DGK projects and for notions. Their notions are usually more reasonably priced than even JoAnn's with a coupon, and sometimes I need something right NOW and no coupon. I also like WalMart for the pellon products. I guess you could say that I am doing my part in keeping the fabric dept. lol

Our local WM has trash....there is nothing there I would pay even a buck for and yet the prices are stupid high!
BUT, while at retreat this weekend, I heard that the WM in Alva, OK never lost their dept, and that it was also going through the new changes....so off we went...and WOW...I spent $70! I got a nice white on white that is heavy with large roses on it for $1.50 yd, some college fabric that was priced $4 per yard cheaper than our WM, and some of the "super flannel" that is normally $5.79 yd for only $1.50 per yd. I bought the whole 12 yd bolt! It is thicker than most flannels, great for a thin batting, and it does not shrink much, AND it is easy to dye!

Point is, not all WM are created equal! I wish ours was more quilter friendly, but they are geared to the younger mod moms making "dress up" clothes for their kids...and crappy fleece blankets! Very little cotton at all, and what they do have is like cheese cloth with paint on it! sigh
