I'm looking for a soft to the touch recycled felt for a pillow project. I say recycled felt as that was the material used in the pillow my daughter saw at some high boutique in Atlanta!
I won't to be able to cut out letters to sew on the throw pillow. My first thought was the fabric that is inside wool ties for the stiffness as it is thick and yet very soft to the touch.

SO any suggestions of where to buy online would be appreciated. I need red and grey and blue and orange.

Why not buy new felt and throw it in with your jeans and wash it a number of times until you like its softness?

I am thinking that the pillow your daughter saw was made from recycled FELTED wool. Felt is plastic and no matter how many times its washed it will never become soft and fuzzy. Go to etsy.com and search for felted wool. It will be washed and ready to use.....and soft!

I have always wondered why felt felt different than wool felt. Thanks. Wool felt is more bendable to work with in appliques. However, it is also pricey.

Sorry to be misleading...........wool felt is also very different from felted wool.
Felted wool is 100% wool that has been machine washed and dried. And yes, expensive.
Wool felt is cheaper because it is (usually) 20% wool and 80% felt.
Once you use 100% felted wool, you won't want to use anything else.

the best place to get 'recycled' felted wool is to visit thrift stores- purchase garments that are 100% wool- take them home- de-construct them- toss them into a washer=hot- with small amount of detergent- rinse in cold water- dry in hot dryer- when it comes out it is wonderful felted wool ready to be cut up for appliques or what ever suits your fancy....much less expensive than trying to buy it from someone else.

I bought some wool felt at Hancock's last December because I was appliqueing a sweatshirt for Christmas and needed it to be washable. I bought 1/2 yards because they were having a great sale on it. I bought several colors and you know, I only needed a 10" square from all the colors. I washed it in my washing machine with detergent on hot and then dried it and it came out all soft.
