I'm talking the original stuff. I'm in need of some Model 99k parts, and just as of yesterday, a faceplate for my model 27 (probably best to not get me talking about how this one happened. )

I have found good ebayer, and a good bonanza uhm,... er but it's really hit and miss if they have what I need.

I've been trying to come up with a good source for parts locally, but the thrift stores are exorbitant (Sp?), the antique stores, well let's not go there. The local sewing machine shops want gold bars for their parts machines,...

Aftermarket parts, I usually get from Sew Classic. Originals, I've gotten from a seller on Bonanza and just from salvaging a couple of machines I've picked up at yard/estate sales here and there. Luckily I haven't had to replace too much other than the usual slide plates, bobbins, and spool pins. (Knock on wood!)

if you visit the singer web site- use the contact form & tell them what machine you have (99-k) and where you are- they will send you a list of places that carry parts/supplies for your machine.

Several members here have parts machines...two of my favorites are Miriam, and Cathy (mizkaki). Mizkaki isn't available right now, but should be back in the saddle soon. There may be others as well, but I can't supply you with names as I don't know who they might be!

Another source I've found to be helpful is a guy by the name of Mike Anderson...you can find him on ebay, (Wolfgang's Collectibles) or his email is [email protected] . Not affiliated, just have found him very pleasantn to deal with, and trustworthy.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I use Jenny, for some things, like feet, bobbins, consumables like belts, etc and parts that are OK to have replacement parts for (i.e. slide plates and bobbin cases) if I just want to get the machine up and running.

Things like face plates, original nickle plated slide pates, etc aren't stocked by Singer anymore, and I'm at the mercy of the one Singer dealer near me for parts from their parts machines. They're expensive too, usually 2 -4 times as much as what I find on ebay or Bonanza.

I've been haunting the yard sales and estate sale around here, and with one notable exception, I haven't found any sewing machines worth picking up. (Bought a 1889 VS2 in desperate need of a loving home and tons of TLC at that one) Most are mid-70s and later. It's like a wasteland here for machines, or else I haven't been finding the right places for them

One of the problems I'm having is that if I get a piece from each person, the amount I end up paying in shipping from everywhere on the planet ends up making the machines very expensive to restore. That's why I'm hoping to find someone who's got a good cache of stuff.

I look on ebay for certain parts, otherwise I put out feelers with local sewing machine repair folks or friends that I know have donor machines.
