Default Links to (international) Quilt competitions?

my new passion is it, to participate in quilt competitions. Now i am searching at the web, for some announcement.

Currently i am working at a quilt for a competition, organized by the German "Patchworkgilde". The title is "checkered fishes". It is nearly finished, but unfortunately, it is prohibited to publish photos before the competition starts

I wonder, if some of you could post some links for interesting (international) competitions?

    Hi Daniela!

Nice to meet somebody else from Germany here!

I also love to enter my quilts in competitons several times a year, mainly in Europe but as well in US.
You can find some further information here:

Open European Quilt Championships in Veldhoven/Netherlands (the next one will take place in Oct. 2013):

    Festival of Quilts in Birmingham/UK:

    Grosvenor Quilt Shows in UK:

    World Quilt Competition in USA:

These are the shows where I have entered in the last years. If you need some further information you can send me a PM if you like - of course in German!

    Good luck and happy quilting
    Andrea

    Hi, Andrea

I know you already from the Quiltfriendsforum ;-) and I saw already a few of your beautifull wholeclothe quilts in some exhibition. Thx a lot for the links! I think at the Grosvenor Quilt Shows are a few interesting competitions.

Mostly i´m afraid that I will not get the Quilts back, after such a show. What is your experience about that?

    Hello Andrea,

Have you submitted an entry to the World Quilt Competition in the USA this year? Hoping to get to Manchester, NH and maybe see more of your beautiful work.

Hello Daniela! You can see, quiltfriends are everywhere!

Of course it's always kind of a risk to send a quilt by mail overseas. When it should get lost you can never replace it. I sent quilts by DHL several times to UK and NL and everything was perfect. The quilts arrived in time, no damages at all. Grosvenor is sending an email with different transportation offers and of course for different rates before they send back the quilt and they really handle everything with care. All my quilts arrived home safely just a short time after the show. The Grosvenor staff is very friendly and you can ask questions by phone or mail all the time.

    Just give it a try!

Yes, I have, Elaine! As far as I know the quilt is already on it's way to US - there are only 2 and a half weeks left until the show opens! I'm very excited... please send some pictures if you can go, I would be really happy!

I will certainly take pictures if I go again this year. Maybe you remember, I accidentally deleted most of my pictures last year and ended up with only a few. I have replaced my laptop and hopefully that won't happen again.

    Good luck in the competition!

    Elaine

(Can you tell me what color quilt I'd be looking for?)

Thank you, Elaine! You can have a look on my quilt here:

It's a yellow/golden shade and the quilting thread is rust.

Hi Rachel! I think you are talking about Birgit Schueller...and I agree completely, she is a marvellous long arm quilter and often competes in US shows. Besides she is a really nice lady and very helpful!
