You are too funny! I have to admit that both a trip to Yellowstone and a paid off truck sounds awfully good ... but fabric is pretty wonderful too. Sometime ago I was fortunate to be on an unemployment program that allowed you to start and run a business while you collected unemployment benefits -- a lot of reporting involved and attendance at awful seminars so it wasn't a walk in the park. I did pay a lot of bills and did some other responsible things, but I also bought a huge amount of fabric. I'm glad I did. Prices have gone through the roof since then and what I bought for $4 yard (with coupons and shopping sales) is now easily $7-8 a yard. Needless to say, I am currently on a fabric fast and I will be amazed if I can sew through it all before I'm gone to the great beyond. So ... give your husband a giant hug and many many kisses for being so wonderful.

So I did my Amish quilt. Hope it passes muster. I may have cheated a bit with the fabric selection, but there's no quilt poilice here right???

Hope to get it in the mail to my partner tomorrow!! She should get it by the end of the week.

I know everyone here likes the themes, and I do too occassionally. I have always liked this swap becasue it was senders choice, and being me, I never necessarily know what is going to come out of my sewing machine and feel pressure to conform and for me adds stress to the process that is supposed relieve my stress.

So as long as we can still do senders choice I'm OK with whatever everyone else wants.

I'm with you on that one. Sender's choice is always an option. This has to be fun ... not stressful ... so don't worry about themes. That's why I sort of wanted to give everyone a break in September ... but you can always do the theme as an option or not.

For me, the themes provide a focus with which to begin. Else, my brain would be all over the place! OK, it still is all over the place, but with some limits.

ok, quick question on 'fall' colors.. I am thinking of adding some purple to a block that has burgandy, forest green and gold in it.. am I off on this? please say so.. then a brighter purple or a dark plum color? the block is feeling not as warm as I want it to. I wish I had some warm cream for background but am stuck with a cool beige.. cool, cool, cool.. boring. Maybe time to whip out some fiest a colors and really think outside the block.. lol.. my favorite part about this swap is the size police are on vacation. that opens up the playing field into my comfort zone .. and I love all seasons and all holidays and well love quilting so themes are good or like Krisb says my brain is all over the place. Some focus is a good good thing especially for me. I want to do everything and all at once. I have the energy for one thing at a time however.

I would use a plum type purple since it is fall theme. I have a japenese maple leaf tree and in the fall, the leaves get that plum color to them with the burgandy red. The are very pretty. Use the purple. Yes, it is a fall color. In fact, Mariposa said she has a tree that the leaves do turn a purple in the fall.

And there are all sorts of wonderful berries that are purple in the fall ... and don't forget grapes!
