I posted a picture of my first quilt a couple of days ago. It is listed as my first quilt. Thank you for all of the nice compliments. Still trying to learn more about quilting. I have started laying out samples of material for my next fleur-de-lis quilt . Thinking of using a light gray and and black/white .

This is so beautiful. I love the black and white and the satin. Was the satin very hard to work with?
Did I understand this correctly? This is your first quilt? OMG! I think will be seeing your work with blue ribbons soon.

JBeamer to answer your question yes the satin was hard to work with. I had already purchased the material and had an picture of this in my mind so I was determined I was not going to give up. I did learn a lot though by working with it. If you use spray starch on the satin before cutting and then a pinking shear blade and if needed the No Frey it really does help. I am currently working on another new idea and will use satin just a different color. Thank you for the nice compliment. I also have learned a lot by just coming to this web site. I love to go and see what other people are doing and getting advice from them is so great. I don't have a quilting machine and I am a self teacher so this web site is perfect for me.
