I actually made one of these! It works GREAT!! I also made a handquilting frame of PVC pipes and foam pipe insulation (to clamp the quilt to the pipes), and homemade "Pin Moors" from foam window insulation. I've made so many handy things that came from ideas here on "The Board". For those of us that are monetarily challenged (def: On a limited income budget), this site is a treasure!!

I also made one of these. DH had the rigid foam leftover from another project and the adjustable table was found at WalMart along with the vinyl table covering. If you use clear vinyl you can put project directions or pics of the grandkids under it! I love mine and it helps to keep me from getting the kink I get in my shoulders from when my machine was too high on a regular desk. We did have to put small risers under the table legs to help get the height just right for me. It's not the prettiest sewing table but it works great. I highly recommend this.

I made myself one of these after seeing the video from some packing material from work. I absolutely love it. It gives me a large surface and is easy to set up, has easy access to the bobbin, and just about everything I need to FMQ.
I used some packing material from work. This works fine but stereofoam continues to flake, so I wrapped each piece with plastic table cloths that I purchased at the dollar store. Works okay as the plastic seems to stick together, keeping all the pieces in place. The plastic is not as slippery under the fabric as I would like, so I went to Home Depot and purchased some silicone spray. Sprayed it on the plastic and it is so slippery that I now love it.
WARNING: DO NOT get that silicone spray on your floor. It is slippery stuff and you you could well end up on your keister if it gets on the floor. Spray it onto the plastic and wipe off with a paper towel, or spray it onto a paper towel in your sink and wipe off on the plastic. I sprayed the stuff I purchased directly onto a piece of scrap fabric and it did not stain it, but I'd advise that you do this as well. There are different brands.
