Hello from a Guy

Welcome from Missouri! Would love to see pictures of your quilting set up. Sounds very interesting, and I love old machines, too. My house is a 1904! Don't know what my Singer is, haven't checked it out for a while.

Hi Billy,
Welcome aboard! My MIL has a 1921 or so treadle that she does alterations with professionally. I myself couldn't have the patience for it. I love a speedy, computerized model.
Looking forward to seeing a picture of that 4 patch.

Hello from Perth, Western Australia....would love to see pics of the machines and the car. I am hoping a treadle will come my way soon...I guess serendipity will kick in eventually...usually does. I think it's great that you are getting these beautiful old machines working again, they are just fantastic....old car, old machines and quilting...Billy you are an artist!

I have quite a few friends from down under from another forum I am a member of, and they tell me that hand cranks and treadles are all over the place. But they are in Sidney, Melborne, Brisbane and Tasmania pretty much on the other side of the country.
A real dear friend just got back from a trip to the UK and she made off with a palate of vintage machines including F&R's, Damascus, a few Nationals, W&W's etc.. I am waiting for the container to arrive and go through customs so I can see the photos of the machines.
In fact she is going to recreate the Rajah quilt that was sewn on the ship that was taking prisoners from the UK to Tasmania in the 1800's. Come to find out her Great Great Great Grandmother was on the ship and possibly helped with the stitching of the quilt. It is shown only for a week or so every once in a while in certain museums and will be in the UK next year.
Now if I could only get good enough to take one of mine to the state fair.......

Yes, seems all the good treadles are on the Eastern seaboard. I had a look at the National Gallery site and took a look at the Rajah Quilt....really lovely design, such a lot of work. I am sure the folks at the State Fair will see one of your quilts....in the not too distant future. Happy quilting!
