I'd keep as much of the picture as possible, and add a border around each block. If you alternate a horse block, with a solid colored block, I think this would be nice!

That's true.. I might go that way so she can see all the horses. Hadn't thought about that. Thanks!

I have made a couple of quilts where i didn't want to cut the fabric too small - this is one:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t199198.html it's the top teal/brown quilt (free pattern) and one i'm finishing the binding on at the moment is another free pattern by bernatex - i don't have pics of it yet - just google 'bernatex tempo de novo' and you'll see. It seems like there are some of the de novo patterns made up on this forum too. Good Luck! And do post pics when its done

I have seen quilts with large print fabrics and they used a length of fabric about 22"x30" and then a border and then blocks around it with coordinating colors or fabrics. This was a child's quilt, but for a bigger one, just make the center panel bigger. Is this confusing? Sorry. I know there was a pattern for the one I saw , but i don't know the name. I will try to find it.

I made my grandaughter a quilt with the dissapearing 9 patch pattern. I placed the horse pics in the corners where they wouldn't be cut. I will try to attach a pic. This went real fast. the horse pics were appx 8", so the blocks were appx 24" square.

A simple 9 patch alternating with the focus fabric always looks cool and to make it even cooler without much more work, turn it on point!

I'm currently making a farm animals quilt with the animals in Attic Windows. You can make the windows whatever size your horses are and it's a really easy block to make. Google has some great images to give you ideas.

My sister found these 2 tops at a thrift store and gave them to me to see if I could do anything with them. I had to take apart every seam because through out the whole top the seams ranged from 0" to 1/2". I cut them all the same size, and put them back together.

These are simple quilts, but I like them. I have yet to sandwich them and quilt them.
