My grandmother taught me to knit when I was small. We knitted as teenagers, then when married crocheted a blanket. To celebrate my 70th birthday I knit 22 pair....that is 44 socks for our deployed soldiers. I started quilting and continued some knitting. Recently I began a pair of socks, finished the first sock after some time lapsed.....then I forgot how to cast on for the second sock! well no way could I do it on my own, I looked for my papers on the German twisted cast on and could not locate it. Then went to the internet and found How to Cast on and watched the video several times before I got it right. I am knitting that sock right now....and I started the first sock of another pair to try to keep the method in my brain! So somethings you can learn again at an older age, in Italy I had no luck with Italian immersion classes as they just went too fast and no English was spoken. I watch Italian mysteries that have subtitles and am picking up a few words from that! It just take an immense amount of determination but you can do it!

I wish I had learned to crochet. A neighbor made the most beautiful doilies that I have ever seen. My father thought they were dust catchers and discouraged me. But all is not lost, although I started quilting in my 40's, I am quilting and learning as fast as I can!

I'd love to learn to crochet but I am left-handed and dyslexic and that makes for problems. I do knit and water color, so that is another creative outlet for me, though. I "speak at" Spanish and French, but wish I had learned Latin and German also.

I very much regret not learning tennis at a much younger age.
We can never stop learning... I started tennis at 46, golf at 45, quilting at 55, dancing at 42, started college at 38, got my college degree at 45. crocheted in my 20's, cross-stitched in my 30's, got my first horse in my 20's(still have my baby-she's 24)
If there is a will there is a way. A thirst for knowledge is the fountain of youth. IMHO.

I've done a lot of things, like needlepoint, embroidery(learned at about 5) counted cross stitch, crewel work. I cannot knit or tat though. I can crochet, I ended up teaching myself. I wish I had stayed playing the violin. Stopped in 7th grade because I got teased.

That's wonderful. But my body will not longer let me do what I would need to do. It just doesn't want me to move that way anymore. Besides.. I have quilting now. lol

I always wanted to learn to knit, recently I have using the Portuguese method which is much more ergonomic & easy than traditional. I wish I would have learned Russian, and I wish I would have studied the Bible more at an earlier age!

My mother was a beautiful seamstress and I learned to sew from her. I started quilting in my 40's and still love it. I wish that I had of gone on and gotten my CPA. I learned that grandchildren and a lot of fun and the small things that my kids did when they were little I find very funny when the grands do it!
