If you have been or live near Paducah...please give me any information that could make my stay pleasant. I see most hotels are already booked.

What other cities are good to stay in?
I plan to fly into St. Louis...from there what else should I see?
All helpful information would be appreciated.

I attended Paducah this year and had a blast! I stayed outside of Paducah in Benton KY on Kentucky Lake. Checkout Whispering Oaks.com. This place was great! Prices were great also. Would stay there again. As far as the quilt show, if you don't want to pay for parking, you can park downtown by the river next to where they have a farmer's market. There is a bus that picks up/drops off right by the parking lot and goes right by the convention center where the quilt show is held. What a deal! I also ventured out to Metropolis MO (home of Superman) and tried my luck at the Casino. Hope this info helps you out. You will have a blast!

I stayed at Marion, Il an hour away approx. It actually worked great. I wouldn't mind getting closer but this worked too.

I went the last two years. Both times we stayed at AMERICA'S BEST VALUE INN on Old Cairo Rd. Not fancy but cheap, clean and convient location. The first year we took the shuttle around but we wasted a lot of time waiting on it to arrive. The second year we drove. Easy town to get around in. What we did, that turned out very well for us, is we had free breakfast at the motel, then a nice lunch (with doggie bags) and ate in the room at night. The rooms have fridg and microwave. Our favorite place to eat was RAFFERTYS on Hinkerville Rd.

If your coming from CA and not renting a car you will definitely need to stay in town somewhere. Once there the buses can get you where you want to go.

However, if you're going to have a car, about 30 minutes to the east of Paducah is Grand Rivers. There is Lighthouse Landing that is right on the lake and beautiful and not real expensive. There is also Green Turtle Bay Inn that is beautiful and on the lake. Check them out on the Internet.

And in Grand Rivers is Patti's restaurant, a must if you can get there. Their pork chops are delicious!!!

We're going again and it will be our tenth year.

I went to the Paducah show about three years ago and it was a wonderful trip with Heritage Quilt tours. We saw all kinds of historic places in Kentucky and they transported us to the show every day as well. Their tours are to all the major quilting shows in the United States and are a great deal for a single traveler like me. Since my husband died I travel alone and am now 86 so enjoy being with others with the same interests. What wonderful people I have met! I am happy to share the ideas. Paducah is a great town and great show. Have fun!
