several years ago keepsake quilting had a B&W and red all over contest....I made a quilt for my DSIL with the contest fabrics and called it "Music is Black and White and Read All Over"...it never made it to the contest but it has an honored place in his music room it is used daily.... he loves it.

My additional fabrics (2 are allowed) were white with black music notes and black with white music notes.

what a terrific job you have done. It is wonderful. How could he help but love it. It will be a long time treasure for him.

It was much less time consuming using it rather than doing the strip piecing for the keyboard border. I used my embroidery machine for the designs in the middle section and I raw-edge appliqued the guitar. The design is an altered version of a Maple Island quilt I saw. I am giving him a surprise party on the 3rd of Nov and will give it to him then. I hope he likes it! I am going to tell him that, if he really does not like it, he will not hurt my feelings if he just wants me to keep it! My friend actually fell in love with this quilt and offered me 150.00 to make her one. As flattering as that is, I had to decline. Too many hours spent and I need to move on to my next adventure.
    Hope you enjoy.
