Wow--what a great idea. I get impatient at the basting stage--dread pinning--think I might be trying this on my next one.

I can remember when I first told everyone, about 10 years ago, that I was spray basting my quilts. I got replies like: "Don't do that! it will gum up your machine" or "I would never use that on my machine." I had to reassure them that I wasn't dumping the glue in my machine. lol Same thing happened when I said I used baby powder when I sewed on plastic to make rain coats for the dogs. I tapped my finger in the powder and lightly rubbed the top and bottom of the plastic before I sewed. Non stick. It worked great and my machine is still working just fine.
I bought my first can of spray glue in the automotive dept at Walmart. It was 3.98 a can. The Elmers spray is 14.00 for the same size can. I like the Elmers better because it is a finer spray, just wished the price was lower.

Always nice to hear a success story to encourage us to try a new method. Anything to eliminate those wrinkles when freemotioning on a DSM!

That sounds safer than using the spray adhesive. BTW, the overspray can ruin your glasses.
I will try this one :-)

DO use only Elmer's School Glue, as you want it to wash out, after you do the stitching. The regular glue will dry hard and not wash out.
