    Wonderful QuiltE!!

Enjoyed reading the history. And I learned something. Yes I knew what a butter churn was, but I never knew there was one called a "dash churn" ... nor did I know that the "churn dash" block was named for a butter churn.

    Thanks for sharing!

QuiltE, your table toppers fit in perfectly in the display. Who still had a complete cream separater? I have never seen one that had all the pieces still intact. The display is really impressive and hopefully very informative to those who are not as familiar with life down on the farm. On another note will you been attending the IPM in Ayr this year? If so message me and we will get together. We will be camped there.

Thanks everyone ... the Fair is going well, and we've had a lot of positive feedback IRL too, about the display.

The yellow is somewhat a butter colour. The blocks were the Churn Dash pattern. So somewhat double dairy connotations there.

The black and white ... the backing fabric has different dairy pictures and words on it. The centres of the Blocks were fussy cuts from the backing fabric.

Did anyone notice the Queen display? .... off to the right you can see a poster with her on a horse. It's blown up from the little handout on the table that was from the CNE in 1952. At that time, a lifesize butter carving was created with the newly crowned Queen on her horse. We still have butter carvings happening at the EX, though none so grandiose any longer.

MamaBear ... Congratulations!! The new CNE Amabassador hails from your locale! I'll follow with an email about the other.
