Some say use good quality muslin but others say that it stretches over time. To sum up all the results from all my research the fabric suggestions vary from upholstery fabric, denim and high thread count cotton to Kona white, muslin, and to whatever you have on hand. I am on my way to HOme Depot for hubby and to Joann'a for me so please, please tell me what fabric you used to make your leader cloth. I am not inclined to buy a pre-made one. Thank you!

Why not look at the premade ones and buy something very close. Anything you buy will eventually wear out or just get old.

I used cotton duck, same thing as canvas but that's the name I found it under.

I don't have a long arm but I wonder if that thick 4 inch wide tape that you can buy to make pleated drapes would work?

My used Voyager/Hinterberg frame came with canvas leaders. It is different than duck. I believe canvas is better than duck because canvas can take getting wet better (cotton duck does *not* respond well to water!). I believe you can purchase canvas by the yard from art stores such as Dick Blick.

i made mine from woven polyester - no stretch at all!!!

I used "ticking" (the heavy kind). I was using muslin but like others have written, it stretches over time. And I think the ticking makes it easier to pin the other fabric too.
