    Question Brown pie crust recipe???

I am looking for a recipe to make a brown pie crust like you do to make a graham cracker crust. I would rather
now buy the store ones if I can keep from it. It seems like they are tough and hard.
    Any suggestions???

    Thanks a bunch

Graham pie crusts are just ground graham crackers, a little sugar and margarine added and pressed in a plate. If you look up a homemade graham crust you could use it and just substitute chocolate plain cookies and grind them into crumbs. You put your cookies between wax paper and roll over them with your rolling pin until you get crumbs. Look for a key lime pie or grasshopper pie recipe because they are sometimes made with chocolate crumb crusts.

Are you looking for a chocolate pie crust or graham cracker crust? Either way, you would crush up (or as I do, blend in a blender) the graham crackers (and about 1 tsp. cinnamon) or oreo cookies(chocolate cookies minus the cream filling and I don't use cinnamon when I do chocolate), about 1/2 cup sugar, and stir in enough melted butter/margarine to hold the crumbs together when you press gently with your fingers, about 1/2 cup per 15 crushed graham crackers. I haven't ever really figured out how many chocolate cookies it takes to make one crust, though; I would estimate that you need about 2 cups of either to make a good pie crust. This needs to be placed in the freezer for a while to allow the crust to harden before adding your filling and then baked with the filling if instructed in the recipe that you are using. Hope this helps.

Are you looking for a chocolate cookie crumb crust ..... similar to graham cracker crust?

Or a brownie crust? ..... more like a brownie, just very thin?

    Two totally different things!

I would have to say probably the oreo cookie recipie but I didn't think you would have to take out the white filling
but then it does make sense.

No you do not need to take the cookie apart.
Try googling and you'll find a gazillion possibilities!!!!

I use oreos to make pie crust all the time. Just grind up the cookies in the food processor filling and all. Add a little butter. No need to add sugar or anything else. Doesn't need much butter because of the filling.

They used to sell chocolate graham crackers at the grocery stores. Not sure of the brand name or who made them, I'm thinking Nabisco? Not sure either if they are still available.
