Ok, so last night I think I made a really good find.

This was on Craigslist here in the SF Bay area

I could not help myself when I saw the asking price.
(I thought it was a typo)

$15 (yep, just 3/4 of a yuppie food stamp)

So it is missing the bobbin holder, bobbin, and needles.
I have these from my "later" White Rotary

    Think they will work?

    I LOVE the "foot" pedal

Here is the BIG issue. I need to replace the "dogbone" shaped swivel for the motor.

I am pretty sure that this 1917 unit was originally a treadle and "electrified" based on the decal in the back and the hole for the light being into the front decal. I may just convert it to a hand crank and be done. The wiring is SCARY but it actually works, pedal moves motor spins!

Thanks again for this fun site.

    Steve,

That is a really beautiful White Rotary.

It sure does look like it was originally a treadle. Converting to a hand crank would be fantastic, but a hand crank to fit the White Rotary is much rarer than the proverbial hen's tooth. (Sorry to pop your bubble.)

It looks like your bobbincase is from a White 77. It probably won't fit this Rotary.

Very nice! Did you see this CL post? Does this have the parts that you need? It has been on CL for a while.

Mizkaki: Thanks for that heads up. My other unit is a 77 (I think) I have two bobbincases, this one and one with the center having a hole all the way through (not "capped" like this one)

Ya know, I was wondering if a singer hand crank would work... drat...

Well, the fun part is tracking down the missing bits anyway.. right? hehe

This guy won't budge a penny on this lot, which makes no sense since he's been trying to sell it for 9 months now and it hasn't moved. There comes a time when you cut your profit margin in order to make a buck. He brings in machines by the hundreds a few times a year, so you'd think he would want to move these sooner rather than later but apparently not. *sigh* my partner and I have made him a few offers on this lot.

Default Wanted: Bobbin Case for White Family Rotary Treadle

I know SteveH is looking for a bobbin case for a White Family Rotary treadle machine and Charlee was going to check to see if she has one. I would like one too. I've checked with Cindy in MN and Sew-Classics already. They don't have any. If anyone has one for sale will you please let me know? BTW: SteveH has first dibs on any that surface. :-)
