Default Picayune MS Police Department searching for missing quilts

A co-worker email me this link. Now I see why all quilting videos say label your quilts. This is awful.

what a story! One reason for closely supervising caretakers or others allowed in one's home.

When I first started quilting, I came across an article that said that the Amish started selling their quilts when they would return home from their Sunday meetings to find that their homes had been broken into and their quilts were stolen. The article cautioned quilters to label their quilt in ink or attach a label BEFORE quilting so that the actual quilting held the label in place. Then, it couldn't be torn off later.

That is a very sad story. I have also heard that it is best to have your label quilted into the quilt so it cannot be removed.

How ugly can a thief be? This is so bad. I hope all the quilts are recovered and returned to the owner.

Let's hope he never has the opportunity to be called "a caregiver" again. To violate trust like this. She is fortunate that there are "real caring" people that recogize the value of her quilts and are truly helping her to find her quilts.

I have begun to put my name on a small piece of fabric and insert it under the binding at a lower corner. If I ever have to prove a quilt is mine I know I can. Not much but it's fun to share a little secret with my quilt.
