    Default Mountain Mist Polyester batting-

This may have been addressed on the board, but I need some help in deciding the batting for my 15 year old grandaughter's quilt. With my directions, she has cut out and pieced a fence rail quilt top. (I am thrilled that she is interested in sewing as my daughter is not. ) My GD is asking if we can make it on the fluffy side. I sewed her a quilt, but I used Quilters Dream request poly which is the thinnest loft. Is Mountain Mist Polyester batting an option, and if so, how do I quilt it, how does she care for it, and can I use the spray basting on it?

Quilter's Dream has a loft within their polyester batting line that is a bit loftier. Google Quilters Dream polyester battings.

Hobbs PolyDown would be a better choice, I think.

Not all basting sprays work well on polyester. 505 spray is one that does seem to work fine with poly battings.

Here's a link to an older thread about PolyDown:

Here's a link to the Hobbs site. Says quilting distance should be 4-6" max:

FYI, Mountain Mist Poly batting comes in Super Fluff High Loft, 5" quilting span. I use it because I like the fluffy look, and the price is OK. It also washes nicely. Buy it at Joanns with coupon.I might suggest teach GD to sew slowly...easier to stop BEFORE a big mistake happens. Try not to be too picky with a young quilter. She should feel good about herself and her quilt. Have fun.
