I am in the process of sorting/trimming my scraps and I dated the boxes/bags. If I haven't used them in 1 year they will offered for free somewhere. I am not fond of an overfilled sewing area.

Perhaps you can use all the yardage for backing or practice sandwiches for testing out stitches in fmq. That's what I'd do anyway.

remember that your excess stash is someone else's essential fabrics - find a place to donate where you know they'll use it and feel better about "de-materializing".

Fireworkslover- Practice...that's my plan...(again, noting the sarcasm in the OP about this being too much for practice...right? LOL). I'm sure I'll make use of the fabric...most of it is what I would term "1970's floral bedsheets" patterns.
Of course, then there's that BOM/BOW thread over on the other board...that'll be good practice.
Sarcasm is my middle name...just putting it out there.

I am definitely in the "need a stash" group. I love that I can whip up some potholders (for anyone moving into a new house) in less time than it would take to go out and buy the supplies. Also, those boxes and boxes of fabrics are fabrics that I liked enough to buy without a plan for them. That means, my stash is full of fabrics that I like; the quilt shops carry more fabrics that I do not like than I do like. Even if I never use half of it, it has been money well spent because I enjoy just looking at it all organized too! I like scrappy two-toned quilts and I am sure I couldn't hit any store and find 30 or so red prints that I want to put together in one red and white quilt. I can do that from my stash. I made a scrappy purple and white quilt for my cousin a few months ago. I've made scrappy white and blue quilts. Now, I'm making a scrappy quilt in all browns/tans. Just thinking about my beautiful stash makes me smile :-)

I always thought that stash just happens. Even when I don't pursue my hoard, it still tends to grow.
