As a fairly new fabric hoarder opps quilter I can't wait to have a medium to large stash. But maybe I'm the nutty one and you're not.

I found I had quite a stash built as well until I found this site... http://www.conkerrcancer.org/ I was able to make 27 pillow cases in all colors. Sent them off and lo and behold, I had three extra totes to put my new stash in. Yes, it's a sickness.

We'd all better get sewing because when we are gone, our DH's are going to use our beautiful (and expensive) fabric for car rags...yes, to wash the car!

I seem to collect fat quarters. Don't know why because you really can't do much with them. I never collect them in color families. They just sit here!!

I donated several lots the other day to the local quilt guild for cuddle quilts. They like a stash!

I started a scrap quilt to use up my meager stash, (its been sitting here for 8 years) and found I don't have enough to finish and bought some clearance fabric to add to my stash. My stash is only a few fabrics that I can fit in one hand. But I am loving the quilt I am making with it, so I am glad I had some to start this quilt.

PS..I love this thread. Its made me smile at all the funnies.

I have a friend who finishes every quilt she starts and has NO stash as she gives her left over fabric to her quilt guild. She mostly does kits. She never buys fabric "just because." She will go with us to the LQS and have a blast but unless there is a kit she wants, she does not purchase anything and it is not a money issue. I love her dearly but I am not so sure she is normal.

I thought that I would sell my stash this year and then only buy for a specific project. But in checking through my stash, which is not large compared to some I have seen here, I couldn't decide on which ones I could part with. Maybe if I did that I wouldn't have any UFOs. I'm 66 and I know I will never use all the fabric in my stash. And I couldn't think of anything I wanted to buy with the money I'd make except more fabric! What's a "girl" to do?

I clicked. Buy a yard of each and you've got a good start on your purples for your stash.
