I have tried several times to sew with shoes on and always end up wondering why I can't keep my speed steady...kick off at least one shoe and I'm fine. I do keep socks on in the winter just because we have tile in some rooms and I hate to have cold feet.

Barefoot! I too was the only one in class sewing with one shoe (and sock) off.

I am a 72 year old bare-foot quilter. However in the winter, I do wear socks.

At my age, it's hard to walk barefoot on hard floors, so I wear Crocs (better than slippers, smile) in the house all day and I am used to wearing them while I sit at the sewing machine or stand at my longarm. My knees and hips don't hurt at all when I wear them.

Eecha! That's what I usually wear - or sheepskin slippers (rubber sole).
I had no idea so many people sewed with no shoes on! Never seen or even heard of it. I don't think it's very common here - probably too cold! I might have been living in a bubble - I definitely going to ask people next time I go to a quilt class!

If I'm home you can bet I don't have shoes on. I do keep a pair of crocs at the door to do outside work or walk to the beach. Inside naked feet.

slippers all the time, except when I am quilting in my extra bedroom. My main sewing is in the basement and the floors are cold all year around. My extra bedroom is upstairs and carpeted.

Barefoot, too. In winter socks in my old house. Now barefoot again in a very hot apartment.
