    Default Sleepless in Streator

I have a problem sleeping some times. Usually I get up and log on to the Quilting Board. But I was cutting out some blocks yesterday and was interrupted. Woke up about 1am and couldn't remember how many more I needed, so I went down to my sewing room and started counting. I felt more relaxed and then went back to bed and slept great. When I told my friend about it, she asked if I ever tried counting sheep? I
I told her they never crossed my mind.

Very smart, get up and do what is bothering you, you will be able to sleep afterward.

I wake up sometimes just to rearrange blocks on my design wall. Might as well be productive!

I doubt it was the "counting" that put you to sleep.
More likely, it was that once you did the counting, you were no longer "thinking" about how many there were to do.

I find that if I have something on my mind or I'm thinking of something I "must" do in the morning, I might as well deal with it, or else, I'll lay awake thinking about it. So when I go to bed, I try to have those things done ... and can go off to sleep.

Sometimes I count backward from 300 and that does it.

Reading just before bed does the trick for me. I often wake up and think about a quilting problem. I then write down my thoughts and can go right back to sleep.

I read before falling asleep, too. And these days once I put that CPAP mask on my nose, I'm usually going to be gone in a very short while! Years ago I used to get up and iron clothing, which I hated; bored me so much I went right back to sleep when I finally stopped, LOL!

Jan, I am one of those rare birds who enjoys ironing clothes! I have two friends who also like to iron and we sometimes discuss irons, ironing board covers and spray starch. We know we are the odd ones!!
