You are using the wrong kind of alcohol with rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol. Your best bet is ethanol. Guess what kind that is! Try some vodka or something stronger if you have it. It probably won't remove all of it but it may remove some. I am guessing the mat is porous and the ink has soaked in.
I keep cheap vodka around to use for a lot of things and none of them are drinking. I work in a lab and we write on everything with Sharpies. We remove it with ethanol, but our ethanol is 95%. Everclear is as close as you will come to that!

You want me to waste vodka on a silly ole marked up cutting mat?? Brrhahaha That is a great suggestion..I'll try in the morning (if I have any "alcohol" remaining) And I will also try the WD-40. Will drop back by & post the results. Thanks again, everyone!

How about trying something called "Awesome"? I found it in the dollar store (in Michigan), can't remember which one, but it works to take out a lot of stuff. It is a yellow coloured cleaner. There were 2 different kinds, one was premixed in a spray bottle, and one was in a gallon jug that you had to mix with water. I used the full strength one. It worked to take a permanent black magic marker off of a white board. Hopefully it will work to take it off your cutting mat.

All attempts failed...guess the marks are permanent, as the ink is supposed to be. If the vodka had been used sooner, it might have removed most of the markings. Gonna have to live w/it or flip the mat. Will try to upload pix...might fail. Again, really appreciate all the suggestions.
