Mainly from Marshall's in Batesville, AR. However, I have found some acceptable quality at Wal-Mart since they have brought back their fabric departments. I don't find much, if any, difference in most Wal-Mart fabric and some of JoAnn's and Hancock's lower end fabrics. Sometimes you can find a good bargain on Wal-Mart's clearance rack.

I buy fabric where I find what I am looking for. Connecting Threads is good. I have also seen local quilt shop owner purchase on sale fabric from Wal Mart-so I buy some from there too. Garage sales, Thrift shops etc.

I use to buy whatever I saw that I liked with no idea why! Now that I am trying to quilt, I have purchased for one from where ever I found coordinating fabrics, but my last one, went to Hancocks of Paducah and bought it all. Sad thing is I have to learn to be more extravagant and buy more....ran out of two and they didn't have any more, had to find something that coordinated....

I am on 'the wagon' right now, I have so much, already, but when I do buy I try to support my favorite LQSs. If I purchase online it is usually a good sale (under $5 a yard) and hopefully free shipping. I like Fabric.com, whittles and OverRainbow.

Mary Jos Fabric Store in Gastonia NC is my favorite, with Fabric Depot in Portland running a close second. However I live in Indiana and its tough to get to either of these havens often enough. If I want to buy local, I have Ericas Fabrics in South Bend and then Lollys and Yoders Department Store in Shipshewana. BUT my favorite online store is www.thousands of bolts.com and then Connecting Threads.

I don't buy a lot online...we are very fortunate here I Maine to have a selvage store called Marden's..they have a wonderful fabric department...you never know what line they might carry...thimbleberries..buggy barn etc. the list goes on and on...prices are usually around $3 to $4/yd. I go very often so not miss out on the good deals....

Marshall's Dry Goods in Batesville AR, has fabric for $4 a yard and tons of selection, actually haven't made it there yet but getting ready to make the 5 hour trip up there, huge warehouse setting. By the yard or by the bolt, good deal. It's also online.

I found the nice rose pattern collection at Walmart for $7.97 a yard, when I was in Houston it was $11.97, not as much to pick from but still a good piece of fabric occasionally from Walmart, most of Walmart thin, ugly and if not careful, not cotton.
