What an amazing quilt! Are you SURE this was your first??
For more details on "proper" quilting (which I think you have pretty-well mastered!) I cannot reccommend one book any more highly than the Joy of Quilting. This book gives step-by-step, details on where to place the pins, tips on certain cuts...It is what I used to make my first Lone Star and I am told I did a pretty good job. I got my copy of the book at a used book store but I am sure you could find it pretty cheap at Amazon, or one of those sources.
Keep the great work coming!

You're well on your way if this is your first quilt! I had to take a class for my first quilt (log cabin pattern) and took me forever to do the hand quilting.
That was several years ago. Recently, my friend, who had taken that class with me, inspired me to get back into it again, and I'm loving it this time around. Have made three pillow tops and now I'm working on a Christmas
sofa quilt. I'm a two-time cancer survivor and find this is excellent therapy for my mind - I get lost in it, one stitch at a time!!!

Congrats on completing your first quilt! It is so pretty! How big of strips did you use for the log cabin. Love the matching pillows too! I've been quilting for about five years now and haven't tried a log cabin yet. Guess that will be my next quilt!!!
