Is there any other type of glue besides Elmers that is made in the US that can be used instead?

    "Special tip"

What is it called, and do you buy it in the store with the glue, or oneline?

No one has mentioned that the glue is Elmer's School Glue, or Elmer's School Glue Stick in clear color. Either works wonderfully. Regular Elmer's Glue is promoted as permanent after drying. I read somewhere that the tinted glue stick doesn't always dry clear as advertised.

But I found the glue just runs back into the bottle, and if I leave the bottle open too long and the tip dries up, a stick pin works very well to open it again.

The set of plastic bottles and, I think, seven different tips, is for sale here somewhere. My Roxanne's bottle will be refilled with Elmer's when it is empty.
FYI, when the tip of your Elmer's bottle gets clogged with dried glue. Don't mess with stick pins or anything like that. Just take the top off, put it in a small bowl and soak it in water. THE GLUE WASHES OUT. If you're really in a hurry, just hold the top of the bottle under running water, only takes about a minute.

I used Elmer's on a table runner border yesterday and it worked great! No more stuck fingers and it appears to have washed out completely.

I've never used the Elmer's Glue, or any other. Can it be left on the quilt when you complete it or does it have to be washed out? Thank you.

I often use a glue stick for sewing, machine embroidery and quilting. Works great and peels off easy when you want it to. Good luck.

i think you can get tips in the cake decorating section of wal mart and also a coupler (spelling) to hold the tip.

It also works if you are matching a print and seaming two pieces together. Line them up, put a skinny line of glue down, iron it, sew it, pop the glue and press the seam open. No pins, no sliding and everything matches!
