Default Have You Entered a Juried/Judged Show?

I've just had one of my quilts accepted to be displayed at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XXIV...
Woo Hoo! Doin' the happy dance...

This is my first juried/judged show. The instructions for shipping state... "Your quilt should be folded, placed in a sturdy plastic bag and then boxed..."

What is considered a "sturdy plastic bag"? Would a garbage bag do? If not, where would I get an appropriate bag?

This is a link to a thread that has a picture of the quilt if you want to see it:
    http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...n-t206809.html

    I'm so excited and nervous!

I wouldn't use a garbage bag. I'd use a giant Ziplock bag. I found some that are about 2 feet by 3 feet at a hardware store that are perfect for something like that. It was a Tru Value hardware store if that helps.

Beautiful quilt!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure that a garbage bag would be sturdy enough. A strong plastic almost a vinyl would probably be better I think. Probably a pin would go through either one, but the heavier plastic the better. If the box would become damaged at least the quilt maybe wouldn't. Maybe check with Fed ex or Ups even the USPS might know. I'm alot of help. LOL Good Luck in the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use clear garbage bags - that way someone can see there is a quilt in the bag and not mistake it for actual garbage. If you can find a zip lock that big, go for it. The bag should protect the quilt in case the box gets wet, and needs to be sturdy enough not to fall apart when you pick it up.

    Good luck in the show.

Congratulations! I am going to the show and will definitely be looking for it. Will you be there?? We need to set up a meeting time and place for QB members again this year. I missed them last year!

Those large ZipLoc bags mentioned above are great - they won't ever get mistaken for garbage.

I usually find them at Target

They're around $6 for 2 or 3 depending on the size.
The is also an XXL3 that's a bit smaller then the one in the link.

And congratulations on having your quilt juried in.
    Good luck!

Shoot I'm too scared to even enter anything into the local county fair much less something that is juried.

if you can't find the heavy bags then put in two of the clear ones. Why don't you call the show promoters and ask

Congrats on being juried in! I use clear garbage bags, two of them, and stick the open end of the first into the closed end of the second. Clear is important, waterproof is important, your ID inside the bag is important. It's the same principle as shipping fabric.
