I love it so much that I'm going to 'flatter' you by making a similar baby boy quilt (The new parents' theme for the baby room is sock monkeys but... I don't like them.)

Exactly why I did not ask the theme or colour of the baby's room!
I didn not want to feel restrictions and requirements on what I might do.

Not a problem ... I will accept the flattery! I just took a traditional pattern and worked with it.
Sure do hope that you will let me know when you have it ready for me to see!

That is so cute - I often make 9-patch with a fabric square in between, but I'd never thought about taking the 9 -patch into the border. Nicely done.
