    There is an extra wide backing fabric on the market designed to just exactly what you are doing! Has a design printed on it and you FMQ following the design and the design washes out afterwards (I think). See - you are on the cusp of innovation!

    I think this is a cool idea when you don't know how to quilt the top. I think it is a wonderful way to have a double-sided quilt.
