Has anyone used these for marking a quilt for quilting and does it disappear with ironing?

Yes it will disappear when Ironed, it will also reappear when it get's real cold. I was told if you use steam, the kind that goes right through the fabric. it stays gone, haven't tried it yet, My iron isn't strong enough.

I haven't personally tried these pens, but I've read quite a few reviews. One problem is that the marks reappear when the quilt gets cold. This has happened when quilts shipped to shows get put in the airline baggage compartment, causing at least one quilt to be rejected at a show. It can also happen if you drive in a cold climate with the quilt in the trunk of the car. Another problem has been that the lines have sometimes not entirely disappeared, especially on batiks. I would personally try another option, rather than tempt fate by using these pens. They weren't made for fabric.

I have used it to mark a baby quilt used the blue frixon pen and it worked wonderfully. i would always try it on a piece of scrap material from the quilt. it came out like magic

I used it to baste a piece of linen for a cross stitch piece and when I ironed out a spot that I marked incorrectly it slowly came back and I don't think it was even cold. I will probably take a facecloth and wash out the area. Good wet steam might be a great idea too. I'll give that a try as well.

I use the pens quite a bit with great success ...but.....when marking on dark fabrics, it may leave a faint line....stitching will cover it, but if you mark by mistake, you will have that faint line.....washing the fabrics with detergent seems to make the lines disappear a bit more....I don't worry about the lines coming back by being subjected to cold....it takes quite a bit of cold for them to reappear....like putting a quilt in the freezer for a couple hours.....who does that?....all you have to do is throw it in the dryer and they are gone again anyway.....I've tried this, so I know.....you must always test the markers on a piece of scrap before marking your quilt top, the same as any other marking system....better safe than sorry...

Once washed with detergent the marks won't come back even if put in the freezer, at least on the quilts I've used it on. Too many quilters have tried the experiment of not washing, freezing, washing freezing, starch the fabric first, not starch. The marking color is non toxic and archival quality. I use them for all markings and haven't had a problem that bothers me about them but most quilting mistakes don't bother me, so test first.

If I ever had a quilt to be major show worthy, I wouldn't use them due to the cold shipping issues. Since I will never have a quilt that good, I happily use them on my quilts and sewing projects.

I use them alot and really like them. Just be sure you test on scrap first to make sure no problems!
